Vaccine Policy: FAQ (UPDATED)

UPDATE: Effective August 1st, 2022

Randolph College for the Performing Arts has paused the requirement to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This applies to all Students, Faculty, Staff and Guests in both the College Program and the Kids Program.

Please note this requirement may be reinstated on short notice should public health conditions or guidance change.
While students who are not fully vaccinated may now enroll in our program, vaccination requirements may be reinstated with little notice, which could result in de-enrolment.

We recommend that all students be vaccinated to ensure they are in compliance and not be impacted if this requirement is reinstated.

For Students, Faculty, Staff and Guests who have medical and/or OHRC exemptions, weekly rapid testing requirements are also paused.

Any questions can be directed to the Director of Student Services.

Why is Randolph College requiring people to submit proof of their vaccination?

On August 30, 2021, the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health (OCMOH) issued instructions for Post-Secondary Institutions to establish, implement, and ensure compliance with a COVID-19 vaccination policy requiring its employees, staff, contractors, volunteers, and students who attend campus to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19. Additionally, the Province of Ontario’s Ministry of Colleges and Universities released its Postsecondary Education Health Measures Framework for Fall 2021 on August 31, 2021 supplementing the OCMOH instructions.

Randolph College for the Performance Arts (RCPA) continues to take proactive steps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all its community members. As part of those measures, RCPA is implementing this vaccination policy which, under the advisement of public health and government, will now require two full doses of the Health Canada or World Health Organization (WHO) approved COVID-19 vaccination for all students, faculty, staff and visitors who intend to access the building.

Randolph College’s Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy fulfils several legal obligations of the Institution to keep our RCPA community safe and healthy.

When does the mandatory vaccination policy take effect?

Between September 7 and October 20, 2021 (inclusive), as a condition of access to the RCPA building, individuals must be, and must provide the College with proof that they're either fully vaccinated or have received either their first dose of a two-dose vaccine or one dose of a one-dose vaccine.

Individuals with a vaccination who aren't fully vaccinated, or who have an approved permitted exemption, must provide proof of negative rapid test.

Effective October 21, 2021, as a condition of access the RCPA building, all individuals must be fully vaccinated and must provide proof of vaccination to the College. Individuals who have an approved (by the College) permitted exemption will be subject to additional public health measures, including mandatory rapid testing.

In the event that more stringent vaccination and exemption requirements are prescribed by law, the appropriate revisions will be made to our policy.

Do I need to be fully vaccinated before I come to school?

Yes.

By September 7, 2021 individuals must have their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in order to access the RCPA building. You may continue to access the RCPA building while closely following all COVID-19 safety protocols and mandatory rapid testing.

By October 21, 2021 individuals who wish to continue to access the RCPA building must be fully vaccinated. This means that individuals must receive their second vaccine dose (or one dose of a one-dose vaccine) no later than October 7, 2021.

Please note that current COVID-19 safety protocols must be maintained, including daily screening, maintaining physical distance from others, wearing a mask or face covering in all indoor spaces.

Who is exempt from this policy?

Individuals who can't be fully vaccinated due a medical condition, or other grounds protected by the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), may apply by submitting their request to the Director of Student Services.

Please note: all requests must be approved by the College in writing before individuals may access the RCPA building. Upon receiving a request for exemption, the College reserves the right to take up to 5 business days to approve the request in writing.
